postheadericon About the Club

Stornoway Sailing Club was re-established in 2010 to promote sailing and to encourage new entrants to the sport.

We aim to provide events and training for dinghy sailing as well as cruisers; you don't have to have a boat, or even know how to sail, to join the club!

What Do We Offer?

- during the summer, a friendly, informal Wednesday evening sail in company. If you do not have a boat, try to be at the pontoons for 7pm and ask a club member if they will take you out.

- we have formed a moorings committee to represent boat users' interests

- we operate a library of approx. fifty sailing books, ranging from classic Hiscock to RYA manuals

- through Sports Council grants we will offer assistance with training opportunities

- for members who do not own a boat, we keep a register of skippers and boats who have offered to take other people out on the water. We are also well placed to advise on other ways of getting afloat

- we have the use of two Mirror dinghies which could be made available to interested and able members
